CAST Workshop: "Road Safety Awareness - Raising Campaigns"

The Road Safety Workshop entitled "Road Safety Awareness - Raising Campaigns" is organized within the context of the European Research Project CAST (Campaigns and Awareness-raising Strategies in Traffic safety), by the Transportation Engineering Laboratory of the University of Thessaly in cooperation with the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), Magnesia Chapter. The Workshop will take place in Volos, on the 22nd of May 2009 at the TEE building, November 2nd and Xenofontos str.

The aim of the Workshop is to inform the public and private bodies who are active in the field of road safety, for the implementation and evaluation of road safety campaigns, as it has been suggested by the research project CAST.

During the Workshop the following topic areas will be covered:

- The European Commision's policy in roas safety research, with emphasis on the media camapigns, and the CAST Project.

- THe CAST Project added value in the design and evaluation of road safety media campaigns.

- The CAST campaigns, implemented during the project lifecycle, specifically, the Greek road safety campaign ("Eyes on the road" campaign, with the slogan: "Sleep but not at the wheel"), and the Belgian road safety campaign ("Pit Stop" campaign).

- The road safety actions implemented by bodies activated in road safety in Greece.

- The different perspectives on the effectiveness of road safety campaigns, by a panel of experts in the domain.

4th International Congress on Transport Research in Greece

The 4th International Congress on Transport Research in Greece will be held on the 27-30 May 2008 in Athens, Greece. The aim of the Congress is to present the research results in the field of Transportation in Greece as well as in Europe. Exchange of knowledge and discussion of topics related to research in transportation, among researchers, professionals and the local as well as European transportation industry, will be the core objectives of the Congress.

The Congress will be organized concurrently with the 10th International Conference on Applications of Advanced Technologies in Transportation – AATT 2008, organized by the National Technical University of Athens, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Transportation Research Board.

The 4th International Congress will therefore be offering opportunities for interaction and synergies with transportation researchers and professionals from all over the world.
